Kuala Lumpur is a federal territory and capital city of Malaysia. Not only that, but KL is also known to be the business heart of this country. Being the capital of Malaysia, KL is a hotspot among the business community. You can find gleaming skyscrapers, modern architecture, numerous landmarks, and a wide variety of natural and local attractions. However, in the hustle and bustle of a big city, you may want to take some time off for a breather to relax and rejuvenate. What better place to be than at the beach? While KL is a great, modern and urban city to be in, you can always go for a getaway at some beautiful beaches just a few miles away. Here are some beaches that would be a great escape for you from the noisy city!

1.         Morib Beach @ Banting, Selangor

Morib Beach is one of the closest beaches you can travel to if you want to get away from the chaos of the city without going too far. Not only that, but this is also a quiet beach since it is not very populated on weekdays. As you walk along the shore, you’ll be able to see many crabs scurrying around. You can also catch a breath-taking sunset here.

There are a few facilities here that would make your day at the beach a delightful one. For example, there is a food court located here, clean toilets and showers, playgrounds, prayer rooms, a seashell display and kite flying field. It’s an excellent place for families with children too as they can enjoy rollerblading and kite-flying here.

It takes about an hour or so to travel to Morib Beach from Kuala Lumpur. You can go here by bus, taxi, train or car.

2.         Bagan Lalang Beach @ Sepang, Tanjung Sepat, Selangor

Bagan Lalang Beach is an extension of Morib Beach in the Sepang district. The gentle tide here makes it a nice swimming spot. This beach is also less crowded and ideal for people who want to spend some quiet time enjoying the breeze and sea. Besides that, there are a few seafood joints and a food court surrounding the beach where you can get delicious local cuisines. Visitors can also try fishing, kite-flying, water sports activities and camping here.

Bagan Lalang Beach is also home to the world-class AVANI Sepang Goldcoast Resort. There are other notable hotels within walking distance as well if you’re planning to stay there. In short, this beach is a quiet haven for a relaxing getaway from the busy city.

3.         Redang Beach @ Sekinchan, Selangor

Redang Beach is a somewhat hidden beach that is worth a visit if you’re ever in Sekinchan. Not only that, but the beach is also a walking distance to a few seafood restaurants. That means you can enjoy a lovely seafood meal accompanied by a beautiful view of the sunset. It also has a wide enough field to fly a kite. You may also take in the magnificent scenery and fresh air by chilling at the jetty. In short, this is a quiet and low-key beach that is great for a getaway not too far from KL. Also known for its “wishing-tree”, shorebirds and seafood vendors, visitors can visit this beach, especially during sunsets.

It takes about one and a half hours to travel to Sekinchan from KL. Visitors can opt to travel either by bus, car, taxi or train.

4.         Tanjung Tuan Beach @ Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

Tanjung Tuan Beach is the place to be if you’re looking to experience a different kind of beach-life. That is because the Tanjung Tuan Beach has a rainforest-like atmosphere. Visitors can not only enjoy walking along the sandy shore but also hike through the connected dense forest. This coastal forest is also home to a diverse population of flora and fauna. You can also find the iconic Cape Rachado lighthouse as you walk uphill on the main paved road. Not something you can usually do at the beach, right? Although the lighthouse is not accessible to visitors, you can walk around the compound and take pictures for memories.

If you’re planning on having a getaway with your family at Tanjung Tuan Beach, there are a few resorts you can choose from to stay for the night. However, The Regency Tanjung Tuan Beach Resort is one of the most well-known resorts there located at one of the most beautiful beaches in Port Dickson.

Situated at about 45-minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and one and a half-hour drive from the capital of Kuala Lumpur, you can travel here by car, bus or taxi.

Langkawi island is well-known for its beautiful beaches and surrounding islets. With that said, Pantai Kok is one of the many beaches in Langkawi that offers a breath-taking view of the bay, crystal clear waters and the surrounding hills spread over the island. Not only that, but there are many restaurants and pubs available as well. It is a great place to dine with a view, or if you’re looking to party at night. You can also choose to stay here for a couple of days as there are a few quality beach-side resorts to choose from for your getaway.

Pantai Kok is a lovely place to be if you’re looking for a quiet holiday destination or if you love nature. The serene locale and beautiful bay surrounded by limestone hills and jungles make it worthwhile. There are also many activities that you can do here in Pantai Kok such as riding the cable car, visiting the waterfalls and walking around the harbour town. With that said, Pasir Bogak Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island, followed by Nipah Beach and Ketapang Beach. Visitors can also get on a boat and sail along the sea to have a look around the island.
