If some of you are scratching your head wondering what exactly Teh Katsuri is, maybe the name Teh O Limau would ring a bell. Also referred to as Calamansi, Kasturi is a type of citrus fruit that resembles lime—being a hybrid between orange and lime.

Due to its intense citrusy fragrance and fresh flavour, Kasturi is often incorporated into cuisines as well to give it an extra zest. Without Kasturi, some Malaysian favourites such as the Sambal Belacan, Penang Asam Laksa, and Ikan Bakar will never be complete. Though the exact origin of Teh Kasturi remains unclear, it is a popular drink amongst both Malaysians and Singaporeans. With a freshening combination of black tea and citrus flavour, Teh Kasturi is a breeze of fresh air from the other more milky local beverages like the Teh Tarik. This drink is widely available throughout Malaysia where you can order it from almost any hawker centres. Just order up either “Teh O Limau Panas” or “Teh O Ais Limau”, and you will get Teh Kasturi on your table.

Besides its taste, Teh Jasturi is also widely acclaimed by health-conscious individuals as it if high in vitamins and also has a low calorie too. Making Teh Kasturi is as straightforward as it can get. Just prepare some Boh Tea and Kasturi lime, and you’re ready to make this drink. If you have a favourite tea brand, you can go ahead and use that, but for this recipe, we would be using the Boh Tea Gold Blend as it has a mild taste without much bitterness.

  • 1 bag of Boh Tea Gold Blend

  • ½ cup of hot water

  • Ice cubes

  • 2 tablespoon of sugar

  • 5 Kasturi lime (cut in half)


  • In a cup, pour some warm water and add in the tea bag. Let the tea bag sit for a while until the water starts to turn brown. Then, add the sugar and stir the drink.
  • After that, prepare a glass filled with ice cubes, and pour the drink into it. Proceed to add the Kasturi lime into the glass, and your Teh Kasturi is ready to serve!

Ways to Enjoy Teh Kasturi       

If you prefer your drink sweeter or less so, you can always adjust the sugar level accordingly. You could also make a whole jug and share it with your family too!
